Activities under HIV/AIDS/GBV, VAC & OSH Program

Task 1 Risk Assessment of HIV/AIDS/Malaria/TB/ Gender/ GBV/ SEA and OSH

Design and conduct a Baseline Assessment of KAPs – HIV/AIDS, /Malaria/TB/Gender/GBV/SEA/VAC/Child Protection and community/ OSH to establish risk factors, population at risk, and hotspots); and mapping of services including assessing quality of available services. Disseminate the findings of the baseline assessment to stakeholders and indicate the scope of interventions under the assignment.

Task 2 HIV/AIDS/Malaria/TB Awareness and Management

Design and implement well targeted prevention interventions aimed at increased knowledge and attitude change towards HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB amongst the project workers and targeted communities. This should include; - Production and distribution of IEC materials in line with approval from MoH and Uganda AIDS Commission. - Carry out radio talk shows. - Conduct school Sensitization. - Film Shows (Moonlight shows). and drama shows. - Management of Project staff clinic. - Condom education and distribution for workers at workplaces/ clinic. - Condom education and distribution for workers at workplaces/ clinic. - HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB Awareness meetings to project workers inclusive of sub-contractors and service providers inclusive of food vendors including induction of new staff. - HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB sensitization for roadside communities in collaboration with HIV/AIDS actors–CBOs/BGOS and District technical leads: religious centres, boda boda, landlords, ) Screening, diagnosis and treatment of STIs for Project workers. - Conduct VCT for workers and outreach to communities. - Referrals for HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis care and support to existing / mapped services - Follow up on the referral for HIV/AIDS care and Tb contact stressing.

Task 3 Occupational Safety and Health

Design and implement well targeted prevention interventions aimed at increased knowledge and attitude change towards community and OSH and amongst the project workers and host communities. This should include; - Production and distribution of IEC Materials (stickers, PVC banners, billboards, posters. - Community and OSH sensitization campaigns to the project staff (drivers, operators). - Conduct weekly toolbox talks to project. - OSH sensitization campaigns to the host / roadside communities with local NGOs, boda bodas, community leaders and district leaders. - Sensitize contractor’s staff on the use of PPEs, Monitor and report on the use of PPEs among project staff.

Task 4 Gender Mainstreaming

Design and implement well targeted Gender mainstreaming interventions that include the following; - Develop and adopt a gender-sensitive monitoring and reporting indicators and tools for the projects to be approved by UNRA. - Undertake gender-sensitise monitoring of project interventions including segregated gender water and sanitation, employment, working conditions for mothers etc. - Gender-sensitive reporting against agreed indicators: employment, gender responsive facilities, facilities, participation in meetings. - Identify and map out all hot spots and develop the plans highlighting specific responses for the hot spots.

Task 5 GBV/SEA/SH and VAC/Child Protection mainly through Code of Conduct awareness

Design and implement well targeted GBV/SEA and VAC interventions that include; - Disseminate Workers Code of Conduct including on GBV/SEA/SH to workers and communities (outreach to schools, landlords, LCs, GMCs, Churches, Boda-Boda). - Special targeted sensitization of communities hotspots / community groups at risk and risky groups such as boda bodas, churches etc on GBV/SEA and Child Abuse. - Conduct awareness on Workers Code of Conduct including on GBV/SEA/SH,HIV/AIDS,TB, malaria, and VAC In communities (outreach to schools, landlords, LCs, GMCs, Churches, Boda-Boda). - Institute / elaborate clear reporting mechanisms for GBV/SEA/SH through community and workers GRM. - Identification, reporting and onward management of GBV/SEA/SH.

Task 6 Identify and support locally existing structures

Identify and support locally existing structures to assist in programme implementation and to enhance sustainability of the program output/ outcome through; - Involving local structures in program activities namely: local leaders, CBO, elders in the community and women groups.

Task 7 Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

Develop an MEL system with performance indicators, reporting system/schedules.
