OHS, HIV/AIDS, Gender Based Violence (GBV) and VAC Prevention:

UNCI’s Roles:

  1. Supervise the Contractors in all matters concerning occupational health, safety and care of the works, workers, and local communities.
  2. Ensure that all persons working on the project (Contractors and Sub-contractors) sign the CoC and fully understand its content.
  3. Monitor compliance with the CoC of all persons working on the project; Ensure that all persons working on the project at managerial levels comply with the provisions of the CoC.
  4. Ensure the contractor is supervising his/her workers and reporting inappropriate behaviours based on the CoC requirements.  
  5. Monitor the Contractors activities to ensure that all persons working on the project have received: (i) OHS training; (ii) HIV/AIDS education. (iii) sensitisation on GBV, and violence against children (VAC), including child labour in accordance with the Contract and relevant national regulations. 
  6. Monitor the Contractor’s compliance with and performance of required actions regarding HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, child and forced labor and labor core standards in accordance with the contract documents.
  7. Coordinate with the Client and the Engineer to instruct the Contractor to take actions in line with the requirements of the Contract to ensure compliance with the requirements of the project for addressing OHS, HIV/AIDS, GBV and VAC prevention.
  8. Ensure that the GBV Action Plan is submitted prior to mobilization, and observe to ensure that the plan is fully implemented.
  9. Ensure that any workers camps and equipment yard are managed in accordance with the recommendations of the C-ESMP, OHS plan and the guidance.
